House GOP pulls all-nighter on Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill’ amid Dem attacks

President Donald Trump’s ambitious agenda is moving forward as three key committees work tirelessly to advance his “one big, beautiful bill.” The House Agriculture Committee, the Energy & Commerce Committee, and the Ways & Means Committee are all deeply involved in the process, with marathon meetings expected to continue into the night.
The Energy & Commerce and Ways & Means Committees have already begun their meetings, with sources indicating that they could last upwards of 20 hours each. The Agriculture Committee’s markup is also expected to extend into the following day.
Democrats on each committee are gearing up to challenge GOP lawmakers on proposed cuts to critical welfare programs. The debate over Medicaid cuts has been particularly contentious, with Democrats arguing that the Republican budget proposal will severely impact vital services. Republicans, however, maintain that their goal is to eliminate waste and abuse in the system while protecting vulnerable populations.
The Ways & Means Committee, responsible for tax-related issues, has also been a battleground for heated discussions. Democrats have been pushing for amendments to preserve Affordable Care Act tax credits and to address the state and local tax deduction cap. Tensions between moderate Republicans and conservatives have further complicated the process.
In the Agriculture Committee, Democrats wasted no time in accusing Republicans of attempting to slash the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps. Republicans, on the other hand, have highlighted provisions in the bill aimed at supporting young farmers, expanding export markets, and investing in national animal disaster centers.
House and Senate Republicans are utilizing the budget reconciliation process to advance Trump’s agenda, allowing them to bypass the minority party and pass legislation with a simple majority. Trump is pushing for a comprehensive bill that addresses tax reform, border security, immigration, energy, and defense priorities.
As the committees work through the night to advance their respective portions of the bill, the political landscape remains tense. Both sides are digging in their heels, with Democrats and Republicans locked in a battle of priorities and principles. The outcome of these marathon meetings will have far-reaching implications for the future of Trump’s legislative agenda.
