House majority hinges on 18 uncalled races, with Republicans just 4 seats away

The House of Representatives is still awaiting the results of 18 races that have yet to be called, with the GOP needing to win just four of them to secure control over the chamber. Here is an update on where each of these tight races stand as of Monday.

In Alaska’s at-large congressional district, Democratic incumbent Rep. Mary Sattler Peltola is trailing behind Republican entrepreneur Nick Begich. Begich currently holds a 4-point lead with 49.5% of the vote compared to Peltola’s 45.5%, with 80% of the vote counted.

Moving on to Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani is barely leading former Democratic state lawmaker Kirsten Engel with a 49.1% to 48.5% margin and 83% of the votes counted.

In California, the race in the 13th Congressional District sees Republican Rep. John Duarte leading Democrat Adam Gray by 51.3% to 48.8% with just over 3,000 votes separating them. Meanwhile, in the 21st Congressional District, incumbent Democratic Rep. John Costa leads his Republican challenger Michael Maher by 50.5% to 49.5% with a slim margin of just over 1,000 votes.

In the 22nd Congressional District, Republican incumbent Rep. David Valado leads Democratic Challenger Rudy Salas by 53.6% to 46.6%, with a lead of just under 10,000 votes. Democratic incumbent Rep. Mark Takano holds a 12-point lead over Republican David Serpa in the 39th Congressional District, while Republican incumbent Rep. Ken Calvert leads Democrat Will Rollins by 51.4% to 48.6% in the 41st Congressional District.

In the 45th Congressional District, incumbent Republican Rep. Michelle Steel leads Democrat Derek Tran with 51.1% of the vote, and in the 47th Congressional District, Democrat Dave Min holds a less than 1% lead over Republican Scott Baugh. Democratic incumbent Rep. Mike Levin leads Republican Matt Gunderson by 3 points in the 49th Congressional District.

In Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, Democrat Rep. Yadira Caraveo is trailing Republican state Rep. Gabe Evans by less than 1% with 96% of the vote counted. In Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, Republican incumbent Rep. Mariannet Miller-Meeks holds a lead of less than 1% over challenger Christina Bohannan with 99% of the vote counted.

In Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District, Democratic candidate Cleo Fields leads Republican Elbert Guillory by 13 points with 99% of the vote reported. In Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Jared Golden holds a narrow lead over Republican Austin Theriault.

In Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Marcy Kaptur leads Republican Derek Merrin by less than 1 point with 99% of the votes counted. In Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer is trailing Democrat Janelle Bynum by nearly 3 points with 87% of the votes counted.

Lastly, in Washington’s 4th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Rep. Dan Newhouse leads Democrat Jerrod Sessler by 5 points with 84% of the votes counted.
