House Republican calls Pete Hegseth Signal report ‘unacceptable’

Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., has made it clear that he will not tolerate any breach of sensitive information regarding military operations. In a recent statement, Bacon expressed his concerns about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly sharing classified details about a mission in Yemen through a Signal group chat.
Bacon, a retired military officer and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of military operations. He stated that it would be unacceptable if Hegseth had indeed shared classified information in a private chat with individuals outside the authorized channels.
The New York Times reported that Hegseth had discussed the March 15 strikes in Yemen in a private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer. This revelation raised serious concerns about the security protocols in place for sensitive military information.
Despite the allegations, White House officials have denied the reports, with White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stating that no classified information was shared. President Donald Trump also dismissed the claims as “fake news” and expressed his support for Secretary Hegseth’s leadership of the Pentagon.
In response to the controversy, Hegseth criticized the media for spreading false information and referred to them as “hoaxsters.” He defended his actions and reiterated that no classified material was transmitted in the Signal chat.
The Trump administration has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding security measures for sensitive information. It is crucial to ensure that proper protocols are followed to prevent any unauthorized disclosure of classified data.
As the debate continues, it is essential to prioritize national security and maintain the integrity of military operations. Rep. Don Bacon’s stance on the matter underscores the need for accountability and transparency in handling sensitive information within the defense sector.
