Housing minister approves up to 2,600 housing units for Bedford West
Housing Minister John Lohr has granted development approvals that will facilitate the building of up to 2,600 new housing units in the Bedford West area.
Recommended by the task force on housing for Halifax Regional Municipality, the development agreements are for the Bedford West 1 and 12 special planning area, designated in March 2022.
The developments include 647 residential units in five multi-unit buildings, including some townhouse-style units, to be built by Kearney Lake Development Ltd., up to 579 residential units consisting of 470 apartments and 109 townhouses and semi-attached or single-family units to be constructed by MICCO WBHL Developments and 834 residential units consisting of 749 apartments and 85 townhomes and semi-attached or single-family units to be developed by West Bedford Holdings Ltd.
Lohr has also approved bylaw and zoning amendments needed to support the development agreements.
