ICE arrests illegal immigrant who threw Molotov cocktail during LA riots: DHS

The Department of Homeland Security made a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had apprehended a previously deported illegal immigrant from Mexico. This individual allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement officials during the riots in Los Angeles on June 7.

The city of LA has been engulfed in unrest for several days, with demonstrators engaging in destructive behaviors such as setting fires, hurling objects at police officers and vehicles, vandalizing property, looting businesses, and targeting the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters. These actions were in response to ICE raids conducted in the city the previous week.

The individual responsible for throwing the Molotov cocktail, Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, now faces charges of attempted murder. According to a statement from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, Garduno-Galvez is a criminal illegal alien with a history of violence. McLaughlin emphasized that individuals like Garduno-Galvez are the very individuals that rioters are advocating to protect.

McLaughlin further stated that the DHS remains undeterred by the actions of rioters and warned that any individual who assaults law enforcement officers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It was revealed that Garduno-Galvez had been previously deported and has a criminal record, including arrests for grand theft and DUI offenses.

The riots in LA were part of a larger wave of demonstrations occurring across the country, with similar incidents reported in cities like Asheville, North Carolina, and Chicago. DHS reported that the ICE raids in LA resulted in the arrest of hundreds of illegal aliens, many of whom had prior criminal convictions.

Video footage captured a suspect believed to be the individual who threw the Molotov cocktail at police on June 7. DHS also released information about 19 suspects arrested by ICE Los Angeles on that day, with charges ranging from robbery to second-degree murder to rape.

In response to the ongoing unrest, DHS condemned the actions of rioters and praised the efforts of ICE officers in removing dangerous individuals from the streets. The statement criticized local leaders for their perceived lack of support for law enforcement.
