ICE officer replaces American flag burned by Portland protesters on July 4

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) made headlines recently when a federal officer raised a new American flag at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon. This action came after protesters burned the previous flag on the Fourth of July.

According to a statement from DHS to Fox News, violent rioters targeted ICE’s facility in the South Portland area. They not only burned the American flag but also assaulted law enforcement officers, vandalized federal property, and engaged in various acts of destruction. The rioters even went as far as cutting internet cables, breaking the sprinkler system, and pelting rocks and fireworks at officers.

In response to the chaos, an ICE officer bravely raised a new American flag in place of the one that was destroyed. This act of patriotism was commended by DHS, emphasizing the unwavering dedication of law enforcement officers to their country.

However, despite their heroic efforts, DHS agents are facing a concerning increase in assaults, nearly 700% higher than before. The agency issued a stern warning that threats or acts of violence against law enforcement will not be tolerated. Secretary Kristi Noem made it clear that those who harm law enforcement officers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Border Czar Tom Homan also weighed in on the situation, promising to intensify efforts in sanctuary cities like Portland that obstruct ICE operations. Homan emphasized the administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring public safety. He mentioned plans to increase worksite enforcement and target illegal immigrants residing in sanctuary cities.

It’s important to note that the administration’s actions are not based on political affiliations but on public safety concerns. Homan highlighted the cooperation of sheriffs in Florida who prioritize public safety by not releasing illegal alien public safety threats. This collaboration allows resources to be redirected to cities like New York, Chicago, Portland, and Los Angeles where enforcement actions are needed.

In conclusion, the events at the Portland ICE facility shed light on the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in maintaining order and upholding the law. The unwavering patriotism and dedication of these officers serve as a reminder of their commitment to protecting the country.
