Illegal immigration dropped 93% in April compared to Biden admin

Border Apprehensions Plummet 93% under Trump Administration
In a groundbreaking revelation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border have dropped by a staggering 93% under President Donald Trump’s administration. The data released by CBP highlights a significant decrease in illegal border crossings, showcasing the effectiveness of the administration’s policies in securing the border.
According to the latest figures, CBP recorded an average of 279 apprehensions per day at the southern border in April, a stark contrast to the 4,297 apprehensions reported in April 2024. The total number of apprehensions for April 2025 stood at 8,383, a significant decrease from the 129,000 recorded in the same period last year.
One of the most notable statistics released by CBP is the sharp decline in the number of illegal aliens being released into the U.S. In April, only five individuals were temporarily released, compared to a staggering 68,000 in the same month last year. This significant drop underscores the administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and border security.
Acting CBP Commissioner Pete Flores expressed optimism about the progress made in securing the border, noting that more agents are now patrolling territories that were previously unmonitored due to staffing constraints. He credited the administration’s shift in security posture for the improved operational control at the border, emphasizing that this is just the beginning of a more robust border security strategy.
In addition to the decrease in apprehensions, CBP also reported a 15% increase in drug seizures from March to April. The agency confiscated 758 pounds of fentanyl at the border last month, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and protect national security.
The report also highlighted the historic low in southwest border crossings in March, with fewer apprehensions for the entire month than the first two days of March 2024 under the previous administration. Border Patrol apprehended a total of 7,181 illegal aliens attempting to cross the southern border in March, marking a 95% decrease from the same period in 2024.
CBP emphasized that the message of consequences for illegal border crossings is resonating with potential migrants, citing the administration’s commitment to deporting individuals who violate immigration laws. The agency’s latest report reflects the continued progress in controlling the border and deterring illegal immigration.
The significant drop in border apprehensions and the increase in drug seizures underscore the administration’s commitment to enhancing border security and enforcing immigration laws. The Trump administration’s policies have yielded tangible results in reducing illegal crossings and protecting national interests.
