India PM praises Trump, invokes MIGA, “make India great again,” after White House meeting

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump recently held a joint press conference at the White House, where they discussed various topics such as trade, economic relations, and military sales between India and the United States. During the press conference, Modi expressed his vision of making India great again, borrowing a phrase from America’s President Trump, and coined it as “MIGA.” He emphasized the importance of working together with the United States to create a mega partnership for prosperity.
President Trump announced the approval of providing India with F-35 fighter jets and increasing military sales to the country by billions of dollars. Additionally, Trump mentioned the approval of the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin involved in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 160 people. Modi appreciated the extradition approval and also stated that India would accept deported illegal Indian immigrants from the United States.
In a bid to strengthen ties between the two nations, Modi highlighted the importance of focusing on India’s heritage and ensuring the country’s development by 2047. He reiterated the shared opinion between India and the U.S. that illegal immigrants have no right to stay in another country and affirmed India’s commitment to repatriating verified Indian immigrants in the U.S.
The joint press conference between Modi and Trump showcased the growing partnership and collaboration between India and the United States. The discussions on trade, military sales, and extradition demonstrate the commitment of both leaders towards enhancing bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of their countries. The MIGA vision put forth by Modi reflects the aspirations of making India great again through strategic partnerships and cooperation with nations like the United States.
