Injuries force alouettes to turn to fourth strings QB James Morgan

The Montreal Alouettes are turning to Quarterback James Morgan to help turn their season around after a string of injuries and losses. Almost a year after being cut from the practice schedule, Morgan will make his first CFL start on Thursday evening against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Morgan, a former fourth-round pick of the New York Jets, has bounced around the NFL and USFL before landing with the Alouettes in January 2024. Despite not taking any snaps in the CFL until recently, Morgan never lost faith in his ability to play the game he loves.

Head coach Jason Maas has been impressed with Morgan’s work ethic and preparation, noting that he has been studying plays and working with his receivers diligently. Despite the challenges of dealing with multiple injuries and a revolving door of quarterbacks, Maas believes that Morgan is ready to step up and lead the team.

The Blue Bombers, coming off a victory over the Ottawa Redblacks, are not underestimating the Alouettes despite their recent struggles. Head coach Mike O’Shea recognizes Morgan as a professional quarterback and expects him to give his all on the field.

As Morgan prepares for his first start, he is feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. He knows that the adrenaline pumping through his veins is a sign that he is ready for the moment. With the support of his family and friends behind him, Morgan is determined to make the most of this opportunity and lead the Alouettes to victory.

Stay tuned to see how James Morgan fares in his CFL debut and whether he can help turn the Alouettes’ season around.
