Iran vows to continue nuclear program despite Israeli strikes on facilities

Iran has made it clear that it will not halt its nuclear programs despite recent attacks by Israel on its atomic facilities. The U.S. has also been making efforts to meet with Iranian counterparts, with a meeting scheduled for Sunday.

In a statement released by the Iranian government, Tehran asserted that Israel’s attack only solidified its belief in its “right to enrichment and nuclear technology and missile capability.” The statement went on to claim that the attack by Israel demonstrated who the real aggressor in the region is.

The attacks by Israel resulted in the deaths of seven top Iranian officials, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and officials involved in nuclear talks with the U.S. This came just after the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog declared Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations for the first time in nearly two decades.

Despite this rebuke, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed that Iran would continue to enrich uranium, a sticking point in the ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations. The attacks by Israel were seen as a sign of fear of Iran’s power by the Iranian government.

Iranian officials have stated that the overnight strikes mean that Tehran will not continue with nuclear negotiations with the U.S. and that a meeting set with Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Oman on Sunday has been canceled. However, these claims have not been confirmed by the Trump administration or the Iranian regime.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a security meeting to address the future of the talks. The White House and State Department have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the talks.

In conclusion, the situation between Iran, Israel, and the U.S. remains tense, with nuclear negotiations hanging in the balance. The aftermath of the attacks and the response from all parties involved will likely have far-reaching implications for the region and beyond.
