Israeli intel indicates Hamas held hostages at new Gaza hospital as UN health agency criticized for inaction
Tuesday, the IDF raided the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, uncovering evidence that the hospital had been used as a base for Hamas terrorists. The hospital director, Hussam Abu Safiya, was accused of collaborating with the terror group and allowing them to use the facility as a safe haven.
Anas Muhammad Faiz al-Sharif, a captured terrorist who worked at the hospital, revealed that Hamas militants distributed weapons and equipment for ambushing IDF troops within the hospital premises. The IDF also found weapons, classified documents, and tactical communications equipment during the raid.
The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement emphasizing the importance of protecting healthcare facilities and workers, but did not specifically condemn Hamas for using hospitals for military purposes. Richard Goldberg, a former Trump National Security Council official, criticized international organizations like the Red Cross, UNRWA, and WHO for allegedly collaborating with Hamas.

Former Shin Bet agent Gonen Ben Itzhak highlighted the use of visual intelligence and human sources to gather information on Hamas activities within hospitals. He emphasized the importance of intercepting communication devices used by terrorists.
Despite international condemnation, Adnan al-Damiri, a former Palestinian Authority official, criticized Hamas for endangering patients and health workers by using hospitals for military purposes. Ahmed Kahlout, the former director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, admitted to his ties with Hamas and revealed how the terror group used ambulances for illicit activities.
Basem Naim, a member of Hamas\’ political bureau, denied the accusations against Hamas and called for the release of Dr. Abu Safiya, claiming that Israel had no evidence to support their claims.
The IDF has been publishing evidence of Hamas\’ misuse of hospitals since the 2023 massacre, including storing fuel and weapons at Shifa Hospital. Hamas was accused of using Shifa as a command center and storing weapons in the MRI building.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas remains fragile, with concerns about the terror group rearming in Gaza. The recent revelations about Hamas\’ use of hospitals for military purposes have raised further questions about the protection of healthcare facilities in conflict zones.
