A highly controversial pro-Palestinian gathering in Detroit is under intense scrutiny for its lineup of speakers with extremist views, including two former Israeli prisoners released in a Hamas deal. Among them is Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a prominent anti-Israel congresswoman.

The second annual “People’s Conference for Palestine” conference, organized by a dozen pro-Palestinian groups, is set to kick off on Friday afternoon and run through Sunday.

Rep. Tlaib is scheduled to share the stage with individuals accused of spreading antisemitic rhetoric. This includes a professor who compared Jews to Nazis, a journalist who made light of Hamas kidnapping “several dozen hipsters” at a party, and an activist who claimed Israel is founded on the belief that Jews are superior to others and faced backlash for alleged antisemitism.

Tlaib herself has faced criticism for her anti-Israel stance in the past, including being censured by Congress in 2023 for inflammatory remarks about the Israel-Hamas conflict. She has also been linked to a secret Facebook group that praised terrorists following attacks on Israel.

At the conference, Tlaib will be joined by two former prisoners released by Israel in a swap with Hamas. One of them, Hussam Shaheen, served almost 30 years in prison for murder and conspiracy. The other, Omar Assaf, was a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a group subject to U.S. sanctions.

Other speakers at the event include individuals with ties to groups accused of terrorism and antisemitism, as well as university professors known for their controversial views on Israel.

The conference has drawn criticism for its lineup of speakers, with some accusing the organizers of promoting hate speech. However, supporters argue that the event is a platform for discussing Palestinian rights and resistance to oppression.

Fox News Digital reached out to the conference organizers and speakers for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Overall, the “People’s Conference for Palestine” is shaping up to be a contentious event with a lineup of speakers that are sure to spark debate and controversy.
