Israeli strikes in Gaza reportedly kill dozens overnight and into Thursday

Hamas has claimed responsibility for launching rockets at Israel on Thursday in response to what they perceive as violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli government. This latest round of violence has resulted in the deaths of at least 58 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, with the majority being women and children.

The conflict escalated earlier this week when Israel resumed attacks on Gaza, breaking the ceasefire agreement. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry reported that over 400 Palestinians were killed on Tuesday alone. In a retaliatory move, Israel intercepted a missile fired by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels before it could enter Israeli airspace.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the military action, stating that Hamas had repeatedly refused offers to release hostages and had not shown any signs of changing their course. He emphasized that Israel does not target Palestinian civilians but rather Hamas terrorists, even though they often use civilians as human shields.

The ceasefire is now officially over as Israel continues its strikes on Gaza. Senator John Fetterman, a staunch supporter of Israel, expressed his unwavering support for the nation while visiting this week. He demanded the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas.

Representative Jared Moskowitz echoed the sentiment, stating that Hamas could end the war immediately by releasing the hostages in Gaza. He called on America to lead the world in pressuring Hamas to bring an end to the conflict and bring the hostages home.

As the violence escalates, it is clear that a resolution must be reached to prevent further loss of life. The international community must come together to broker a peace agreement that addresses the underlying issues fueling the conflict. Only through diplomacy and cooperation can a lasting peace be achieved in the region.
