Israel’s UN amb demands a formal condemnation of Hamas

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, has called on the international body to break its silence on the atrocities committed by Hamas since the attacks on October 7, 2023. Danon demanded justice for the hostages who have been held in brutal conditions by Hamas and called for the U.N. to pass a resolution condemning the terrorist organization.

Despite the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, the U.N. has failed to pass any resolutions specifically condemning Hamas by name. Danon criticized the U.N. for holding emergency meetings and passing resolutions regarding Israel, but failing to address the heinous actions of Hamas, including the murder and mutilation of innocent civilians, including children.

Danon’s plea comes after Israel received the bodies of Shiri Bibas, Ariel Bibas, Kfir Bibas, and Oded Lifshitz, who were brutally murdered by Hamas. The bodies were paraded by Hamas in a display of evil and depravity, sparking outrage and condemnation from the international community.

In response to Danon’s demands, the U.N. Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that while there have been no specific resolutions on Hamas, the Secretary-General has condemned Hamas terror actions more than 100 times in public speeches since October 7th. Dujarric also condemned the parading of the hostages’ bodies by Hamas as abhorrent and appalling.

The IDF spokesperson, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, revealed forensic evidence showing that the Bibas children were murdered with their bare hands, contradicting Hamas’ claims of an airstrike. Danon emphasized the brutality of the murders and vowed to never forget or forgive those responsible.

A memorial event for the Bibas family and Oded Lifshitz was held, with emotional speeches from Danon and Argentina’s U.N. Ambassador Francisco Fabián Tropepi. The event highlighted the unprecedented brutality of the attacks and called for justice for the victims.

The Bibas family, who held both Israeli and Argentinean citizenship, received condolences from Argentine President Javier Milei, who declared two days of mourning for the slain mother and her children. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the gesture and vowed to continue fighting for the release of all hostages held by Hamas.

As the world continues to grapple with the horrors of the Israel-Hamas conflict, it is crucial for the U.N. and the international community to stand together against terrorism and hold those responsible for these atrocities accountable. The memory of the Bibas family and Oded Lifshitz will not be forgotten, and their tragic deaths must serve as a reminder of the need to combat terrorism and uphold justice for all.
