James Comey hit with House GOP resolution condemning ’86 47′ post

House GOP allies of President Donald Trump are taking action to hold former FBI Director James Comey accountable for his controversial Instagram post. The post, which featured seashells forming the numbers “86 47,” sparked outrage among Trump supporters who interpreted it as a call for violence against the President.

Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, and Rep. Laurel Lee, R-Fla., are leading the charge to condemn Comey for what they describe as “incitement of violence against President Donald J. Trump.” Their resolution, which is supported by the Republican Study Committee (RSC), calls on relevant authorities to ensure that Comey is never again allowed to serve in the federal government.

The resolution also calls on the Department of Justice to investigate the matter and make its findings public. Comey, who deleted the post and claimed he did not intend to promote violence, is now under scrutiny by the Trump administration, according to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Pfluger and Lee’s resolution highlights the timing of Comey’s post, which coincided with Trump’s diplomatic visit to the Middle East. They argue that the post could have jeopardized the President’s security and emboldened enemies of the United States. The lawmakers also point out that there were two known attempts on Trump’s life during the 2024 election, including a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the President was shot in the ear.

Lee, who was involved in investigating the Butler rally shooting, emphasized the seriousness of Comey’s actions. She stated, “Having failed in his attempts to take down President Trump as one of the main architects of the Russia collusion hoax, Comey has now resorted to the unthinkable: calling for violence against our Commander-in-Chief.”

The resolution demands accountability and transparency, ensuring that Comey never holds a position of public trust again. Despite multiple attempts to reach Comey for comment, Fox News Digital did not receive a response.
