Jannik Sinner withdraws from Cincinnati Open final due to illness against Alcaraz

The tennis world was psyched to see how Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz went on again after the first had defeated the last in the final of Wimbledon.

But those who were played on the Cincinnati Open -Final on the Cincinnati Open -Final on Monday saw only five games played between the two men’s singles Juggernuts, while Sinner withdrew from the game with an apparent disease.

Alcaraz went home with the trophy.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’m disappointing you,” Sinner told the crowd, staying on the field for the trophy ceremony. “I didn’t feel great from yesterday. I thought I would improve at night, but it came worse.

“I tried to get out, at least tried to make a small match. But I couldn’t handle it anymore.”

Sinner never announced what he had to do with, but he never seemed to be on himself during the game. Alcaraz fully benefited with a 5-0 lead in the first set.

After the fifth game, Sinner called on a trainer to get out. It was not long before the Sinner told the chair referee that he had to retire, who was announced in the stadium.

However, Alcaraz was as respectful as in this budding rivalry between the top players of the game could be. He quickly ran to Console Sinner, and when he signed a camera lens on the field, he wrote: “Sorry Jannik.”

The question now is whether Sinner will be healthy enough for the US Open, with the first round that starts next week in Queens, New York.

Sinner is the defensive US Open Champion, and after winning Wimbledon and the Australian Open, many held him to repeat at Arthur Ashe Stadium in August.

Alcaraz, however, has a US Open title under his belt after winning it all in 2022, his first Grand Slam title and the youngest number one player in the world in the history of ATP is mentioned.

He also defeated Sinner in an exciting 2025 French Open-final that went to a tiebreak of five sets.
