Jaume Munar complains about Zizou Bergs’ loud grunting in US Open confrontation

Fox News article: Tension between Jaume Munar and Zizou Bergs at U.S. Open
Another tense on-court confrontation stole the spotlight at the U.S. Open as Spain’s Jaume Munar and Belgium’s Zizou Bergs got into a heated exchange after their third-round match in Flushing, New York.
Munar expressed his frustration with the noise that Bergs was making during Munar’s dominating straight-sets victory in the third round. Bergs later explained that he was reacting to Munar’s alleged trash-talking towards the end of the match.
The drama continued as the two players confronted each other at the net following the match, engaging in a heated exchange of words.
“He was apparently not so happy with my grunting during the match, which I didn’t know,” Bergs said. “I said, ‘It’s nothing towards you at all.’”
Munar countered by stating that Bergs’ grunting had bothered him on multiple occasions during the match.
“I think he did some wrong things, but he said it was not on purpose,” Munar said. “So, it’s not much more than that.”
In another incident during the match, Bergs was penalized a point for ball abuse after smashing a ball into the stands while trailing 40-love. This momentary lapse of control gave Munar the advantage, allowing him to secure a 5-4 lead in the third set and ultimately clinch the match in straight sets, 6–3, 7–6 (4), 6–4.
The victory marked Munar’s deepest run at a Grand Slam, while Bergs, ranked outside the top 70, exited the tournament after making his main-draw debut in New York.
With this win, Munar advances to the Round of 16 where he will face Italy’s No. 10 seed Lorenzo Musetti on Monday in a bid to secure a spot in the quarterfinals at the final Grand Slam of the tennis season.
