JD Vance mocks Biden’s 28th Amendment announcement with Pete Rose Hall of Fame comparison

President Biden’s recent declaration that the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is now “the law of the land” has sparked backlash and mockery in his final days in office. Even Vice President-elect JD Vance couldn’t resist taking a jab at Biden, suggesting that he should also declare the late disgraced MLB icon Pete Rose into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
In a post on X, Vance jokingly wrote, “Hey Joe if we’re doing fake s— on the way out can you declare Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame? See you in two days!” Rose, who passed away in September, was banned from MLB for life in 1989 for illegally betting on games, including those involving the Cincinnati Reds while he was managing the team.
Despite multiple appeals for reinstatement over the years, Rose remains ineligible for the Hall of Fame due to his gambling scandal. His absence from the Hall of Fame has been a contentious issue in the world of baseball, with many arguing for his inclusion based on his impressive career stats and accomplishments.
Biden’s declaration that the ERA has become part of the Constitution was met with skepticism by the National Archives, who disagreed with his assertion. Social media users were quick to point out that the ERA is not officially part of the Constitution, leading to criticism of the president’s statement and accusations of overreach.
The ERA, which aims to guarantee equal rights under the law for all Americans regardless of sex, has been a topic of debate and controversy for decades. Its latest push came in response to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization case in June 2022.
While Biden’s declaration may have been intended to promote equality and progress, it has instead become the subject of ridicule and scrutiny. As he prepares to leave office, the president’s legacy is now intertwined with a controversial statement that has drawn criticism from both supporters and detractors alike.
