Jerry Jones claims Micah Parsons’ agent obstructed Cowboys negotiations

The ongoing contract negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and star defensive end Micah Parsons have taken a contentious turn, with team owner Jerry Jones placing blame on Parsons’ agent for the stalled talks.
Jones recently appeared on Cowboys legend Michael Irvin’s show and revealed that he believed the organization had reached an agreement with Parsons before the agent intervened. According to Jones, the agent abruptly shut down the negotiation process, leading to a breakdown in communication.
“When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our a–,” Jones claimed. “We had our agreements on term, amount, guarantees – everything. We were gonna send it over to the agent and the agent said, ‘Don’t bother because we’ve got all that to negotiate.’ Well, I’d already negotiated that.”
Despite the reported breakdown in negotiations, Parsons remains a key player for the Cowboys. The rookie is entering the final season of his contract and is seeking a significant raise. Reports suggest that he is aiming for an average salary of $40 million, which would make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL.
Jones emphasized that the deal they had seemingly agreed upon would have made Parsons one of the highest-paid non-quarterback players in the league. He expressed his desire to have Parsons continue playing for the team and highlighted the value the young defensive end brings to the table.
While the negotiations have hit a roadblock, first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer remains optimistic that Parsons will be on the field for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4. Despite the public fallout, both sides seem determined to reach a resolution and have Parsons back on the field as soon as possible.
