Jill Biden, former first lady, lands new job

Following her four years in the White House, Jill Biden has landed a new job leading a California-based think tank’s initiative aimed at improving women’s health. The Milken Institute, a nonpartisan economic think tank based in Santa Monica, announced Biden as the chair of their new Women’s Health Network.

In a press release published on April 29, Biden expressed her excitement about the opportunity to continue her work in advancing women’s health research. During her time as first lady, Biden focused on initiatives such as the Biden Cancer Moonshot plan, the Joining Forces initiative, and launching the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research.

The Milken Institute, known for focusing on financial, physical, mental, and environmental health, is dedicated to bringing together the best ideas and resources to address critical global issues. Biden’s role as chair of the Women’s Health Network will involve galvanizing participation, collaboration, and shared action to improve women’s health and wellbeing.

During the Milken Institute’s 28th annual Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California, Biden joined other notable speakers such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Trump administration officials. She discussed the importance of collaboration across industries to bring lifesaving research to scale and make a meaningful impact on women’s health.

Under the leadership of former President Joe Biden, the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research was launched in 2023 to address the lack of focus on women in medical studies and research. Jill Biden led this initiative, advocating for increased funding and research into women’s health issues. The initiative worked with organizations like the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense to advance research on women’s health.
