Sarah May Curd was enjoying a night out testing her trivia skills with fellow Jonas Brothers fans at a Toronto bar when she heard two loud screams in quick succession. Little did she know, those screams were a precursor to an unexpected and thrilling surprise.
As Curd recounted her experience to host Nil Köksal on As It Happens, she explained how the entire restaurant erupted in screams when Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas walked in. The pop trio, known as the Jonas Brothers, had decided to surprise fans by attending a trivia night based on the Disney Channel musical TV movies, Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
In a video posted on the Jonas Brothers’ YouTube page, Joe expressed their excitement about surprising fans and hoped to see their enthusiastic reactions. When the brothers entered Hemingway’s, a restaurant and bar in Toronto’s Yorkville neighborhood, the predominantly female crowd went wild, with Curd admitting she “blacked out a little bit” from the excitement.
The brothers took the mic to thank their fans and posed a trivia question before making a swift exit. Despite only being present for a short time, the impact of their surprise visit was immense. Rob Tersigni, the general manager of Hemingway’s, described the electrifying atmosphere and praised the Jonas Brothers for being “absolute class acts.”
Curd, a self-proclaimed “Jonatic,” has been a dedicated fan of the Jonas Brothers since watching Camp Rock in 2008. Despite her deep love for the brothers and the films, her trivia team did not perform well, coming in 20th out of 30 teams. However, Curd attributes their lower ranking to a lack of focus rather than a lack of knowledge.
