K-pop group NewJeans leaving ADOR
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – NewJeans Members Depart from ADOR, HYBE Subsidiary
The K-pop industry was shaken on Thursday as members of the popular group NewJeans announced their departure from their agency ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE, one of the biggest labels in the industry.
While ADOR stated that the agreement with the band members is still in place, NewJeans members expressed their intention to part ways with the agency.
“We kindly request that the group continue working with ADOR on future projects, as per our previous collaborations,” ADOR mentioned in a released statement.
The conflict arose amidst internal disputes between HYBE executives and the former CEO of ADOR, who also served as the creative director for NewJeans.
This recent controversy has captured significant attention in South Korea, with issues such as accusations, investigations, and emotional revelations coming to light.
During a press conference held late at night, the five members of NewJeans announced their decision to leave the agency and expressed their desire to work with Min Hee-jin, the former chief of ADOR who recently parted ways with the company.
“After our departure from ADOR, we aim to pursue our desired activities freely,” shared Danielle, one of the band members.
“We are eager to release new music for our fans, the Bunnies, as soon as possible next year. We look forward to connecting with fans from all over the world,” she added.
The band members also acknowledged the possibility of not being able to use the NewJeans name once their contract with ADOR is terminated.
