Karen Read jury foreman calls for FBI to investigate John O’Keefe’s death

The jury foreman in the Karen Read retrial has called on the FBI to conduct its own investigation into the death of Boston Police Department officer John O’Keefe. Jurors recently found Read not guilty of second-degree murder but guilty of operating a vehicle while under the influence.

Juror No. 1, who requested to remain anonymous, expressed the belief that the FBI should step in to fill the gaps and ensure justice for John O’Keefe. The juror criticized the local police investigation as “lazy” and called for an independent FBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding O’Keefe’s death.

Following the verdict, special prosecutor Hank Brennan recommended that Read be sentenced to one year of probation and enrollment in an outpatient program for first-time DUI offenders. The not guilty verdict on the murder charge was reached after a month of testimony and four days of jury deliberation.

Prosecutors alleged that Read, while driving drunk during a blizzard, caused O’Keefe’s death on January 29, 2022. Witnesses testified that Read panicked when she called friends to report O’Keefe missing and allegedly said, “I hit him.” Paramedic Timothy Nuttall claimed to have overheard Read saying this three times.

During the trial, witnesses testified that Read and O’Keefe had been out drinking with friends on the night of the incident but did not attend an after-party where O’Keefe was last seen. Read’s defense team argued that O’Keefe’s injuries were not caused by Read but rather by an altercation with other men at the after-party.

It remains to be seen whether the FBI will launch its own investigation into the case. Fox News Digital has reached out to the FBI for comment on the matter. For more updates on this developing story, stay tuned to Fox News Digital.
