Kelce sets franchise TD record as Kansas City clinches bye with win over Pittsburgh

Patrick Mahomes put on a show on Wednesday, passing for 320 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a dominant 29-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the win, the Chiefs secured the top seed in the AFC for the fourth time in seven seasons.

Mahomes wasted no time in getting the Chiefs offense going, connecting with Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson for first-half touchdowns. The Kansas City defense also stepped up, sacking Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson five times and forcing two turnovers. Even without star defensive end Chris Jones, who was sidelined with a calf injury, the Chiefs defense held strong against the struggling Steelers.

Travis Kelce had a standout performance, catching eight passes for 84 yards and scoring a touchdown to become the third tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 receptions. Kelce’s touchdown celebration, dunking the ball over the goal post, drew a penalty but showcased the Chiefs’ confidence in their ability to dominate on the field.

Russell Wilson threw for 205 yards for the Steelers, but it was not enough to overcome the Chiefs’ relentless offense and stout defense. The Steelers have now dropped three straight games, putting their chances of capturing the AFC North in jeopardy.

The Chiefs’ victory was a statement win as they look to defend their two-time Super Bowl championship. Mahomes, who improved to 4-0 against the Steelers in his career, showed why he is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league with his performance.

In another AFC matchup, Lamar Jackson led the Baltimore Ravens to a 31-2 victory over the Houston Texans. Jackson threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns, while also breaking the NFL career rushing record for quarterbacks. The Ravens now look ahead to a crucial divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
