Kennedy Center shake-up will usher in ‘Golden Age of the Arts’ under Trump, Ric Grenell previews

The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., is set to usher in a new era of the arts under the leadership of President Donald Trump and interim Executive Director Richard Grenell. Grenell recently shared with Fox News Digital that the center will focus on producing shows that appeal to the public and sell tickets in order to sustain itself financially.

Grenell expressed his vision for the Kennedy Center, stating, “This will be the Golden Age of the Arts.” He emphasized the need for programs that can cover their own costs and generate revenue through ticket sales. With the center facing financial challenges, Grenell stressed the importance of offering popular shows that will attract audiences and contribute to the center’s sustainability.

The Kennedy Center, which serves as the national cultural center of the U.S., is now led by President Trump as its chairman, Grenell, and the board of trustees. The center recently faced criticism over the cancellation of a performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus and National Symphony Orchestra as part of Washington, D.C.’s gay pride celebrations. However, the decision to cancel the show was made due to low ticket sales rather than any political influence.

Grenell pushed back against claims that the cancelation was related to the Trump administration, highlighting that the production had been replaced with another show before the leadership change. He emphasized that the center’s new leadership is focused on providing programming that the public wants to see, including upcoming Christmas-focused productions in December.

President Trump recently made changes to the Kennedy Center’s board, removing several members and appointing new individuals who align with his vision for the center. Trump cited the need to stop drag show performances targeting children and ensure that the Kennedy Center reflects the brightest talent from across the nation.
