Kentville man charged in fatal October crash in Wolfville

In a tragic incident that occurred in October 2024, a five-vehicle crash in Wolfville, Nova Scotia resulted in the loss of two lives. The RCMP have recently charged a Kentville man, Jeffery Doyle, with 10 offences in connection to the devastating accident. Doyle, 52, was taken into custody on May 16 and is facing charges including two counts of criminal negligence causing death, three counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and five counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance. He has since been released on conditions and is set to appear in Kentville provincial court on July 9.
The fatal crash took place on Highway 101 at 8:26 a.m. on October 12, claiming the lives of a 62-year-old woman and a child from East Kingston who were travelling in an SUV. Tragically, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman in the vehicle, aged 40, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The victims of the crash were identified as Elma Naguerlin, 62, and her nine-year-old grandson, Renan Jr. Naguerlin Colimbo. Elma Naguerlin had recently immigrated to Canada from the Philippines to be closer to her daughter, while Renan Jr. had moved to Canada with his parents in 2021 and was a student at Kingston and District Elementary School. Described as a loving grandmother and a vibrant young boy, the obituary for the pair highlighted Renan Jr.’s passion for cooking, playing Nerf guns, basketball, and reading books.
