Kitten trapped under the floor of the Surrey, BC home for four days is freed by firefighters
SURREY, BC – Firefighters had to breach an exterior wall of a house in Surrey, BC to rescue a kitten trapped under the floor for four days.
Mark Vosper, regional manager for animal protection at the British Columbia SPCA, says a resident reported last Friday that a cat had been heard crying for days, even though the animal was not in sight.
Vosper says that when an SPCA officer realized a kitten was somehow trapped between the house’s foundation and framing, the landlord agreed to use “any means necessary” to free the animal.
Two firefighters from the Surrey Fire Department cut out parts of the outside of the house and finally freed the kitten after 2 1/2 hours.
Vosper says the four-week-old black kitten had abdominal pain, possibly from being trapped, and was on medication.
He says the kitten’s mother may have been the black cat who was hit by a car and found dead near the house.
