LaHave ferry spotted heading back to Lunenburg County

The Lunenburg County cable ferry was temporarily taken out of service on October 1 for a mandatory refit. The Department of Public Works in Nova Scotia expects the ferry, named the Brady E. Himmelman, to be back in operation sometime this week.

The ferry, which crosses the LaHave River between LaHave and East LaHave in Nova Scotia, was seen being towed back to Lunenburg County after undergoing the necessary refit in Meteghan, Digby County. This refit is required by Transport Canada every five years to renew the ferry’s safety inspection certificate.

The Department of Public Works did not provide a specific date for when the ferry will resume service, but they assured CBC News that it will be back in operation soon. The cable ferry is a vital transportation link for residents in the area, and its temporary closure has caused inconvenience for commuters.

The LaHave River cable ferry is an important mode of transportation for locals and visitors alike, providing a convenient and scenic way to cross the river. The Department of Public Works is working diligently to ensure that the ferry is back in service as soon as possible to minimize disruptions for the community.

Stay tuned for updates on the re-opening of the Lunenburg County cable ferry, as the Department of Public Works continues to work towards getting the ferry back up and running smoothly.
