Lawmaker unveils constitutional amendment to give Trump third term

Rep. Andy Ogles, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, has introduced a bold resolution that could potentially shake up the political landscape. The resolution aims to amend the Constitution to allow the commander-in-chief to serve a third term in office, but with a key caveat – no more than two consecutive four-year stints.
The proposed amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
This move comes in response to the 22nd Amendment, which was ratified in 1951 to prevent individuals from serving as president for more than two terms. The amendment was a direct response to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s unprecedented four-term presidency. However, Ogles believes that Trump is a unique figure capable of reversing the nation’s decline and restoring America to greatness.
In a statement released to the media, Ogles emphasized Trump’s leadership qualities and the need to give him the necessary time to accomplish his goals. He stated, “President Trump has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal.”
While Trump had made comments about serving a third term in a closed-door speech to House Republicans last year, sources indicate that it was likely a joke. Nonetheless, Ogles remains committed to supporting Trump’s agenda, as evidenced by his recent bill to authorize Trump to enter negotiations to purchase Greenland.
The “Make Greenland Great Again Act” would have enabled Trump to engage in talks with Denmark regarding the potential acquisition of Greenland, a territory with significant cultural and geopolitical ties to Europe. Ogles sees this move as a way to prioritize American economic and security interests, signaling a return to an “America First” approach.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, with discussions about presidential term limits and bold policy initiatives, it is clear that Rep. Andy Ogles remains a steadfast ally of President Donald Trump. The proposed amendment could have far-reaching implications for the future of American politics, sparking debates and discussions about the balance of power and the limits of executive authority.
