Lawmakers harshly criticize Biden’s decision to pardon Hunter: ‘Liar’
Lawmakers React with Outrage as President Biden Pardons Son Hunter Biden
Lawmakers are expressing strong criticism following President Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who was convicted in two federal cases earlier this year. The pardon comes as a surprise, as both Biden and his communication team had previously insisted that Hunter would not be pardoned.
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to federal tax charges in September, sparing him from a public trial over his failure to pay taxes while leading a lavish lifestyle that included spending on drugs, escorts, luxury hotel stays, clothing, and other personal items. Additionally, he was convicted of three felony gun charges in June after lying on a mandatory gun purchase form about his drug use.
House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, R-Ky., was quick to respond to the president’s decision, accusing him of lying about his family’s corrupt activities. Comer stated, “President Biden and the Biden Crime Family have lied about their decades of wrongdoing and continue to avoid accountability. The charges Hunter faced are just the beginning of the corruption.”
House Judiciary Chairman, Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, also weighed in on the matter, questioning why Biden would pardon his son if there was nothing to hide. Jordan had been pushing for an investigation into alleged corruption involving the Biden family.
Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, expressed shock at the pardon, as Biden had previously indicated he would not pardon his son. Grassley stated, “Shame on me for believing him.”
Former President Trump also commented on the pardon, suggesting that it was an abuse of justice. Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts, questioning whether the pardon included the J-6 hostages. His transition team released a statement condemning the Justice Department’s handling of the case.
IRS investigators Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who blew the whistle on political interference in Hunter’s tax crimes, released a statement expressing disappointment in the pardon. They emphasized the need for justice to be restored for all Americans.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment on the pardon. The decision has sparked outrage among lawmakers and the public, with many questioning the integrity of the justice system. As the fallout continues, the debate over the pardon of Hunter Biden is likely to persist.
