US Election 2024

Loeffler flips script on media’s Trump tariffs narrative by highlighting praise from small biz owners

As Small Business Week kicked off, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler spoke exclusively to Fox News Digital about the state of the economy and the work she has done at the agency. Loeffler pushed back on the Democratic Party’s narrative about the economy, praising President Trump’s fair trade policy and his efforts to lower taxes and create jobs.

Loeffler highlighted the optimism and support she sees from American manufacturers and small businesses, crediting President Trump for bringing down core inflation and creating nearly half a million jobs in his first hundred days. She emphasized the importance of small businesses in the economy, noting that they make up 99% of all businesses in the country and create two out of every three new jobs.

Under Loeffler’s leadership, the SBA has seen an 80% increase in loans during Trump’s first 100 days in office. She emphasized the agency’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as combating illegal immigration. The SBA recently eliminated its Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility and paused grants that interfered with Trump’s executive orders on DEI.

In a move to ensure that illegal immigrants do not receive taxpayer benefits, the SBA has removed its offices from sanctuary cities. Loeffler explained that this decision was made to keep employees and small businesses safe and to relocate resources to areas where small businesses are thriving.

Looking ahead, Loeffler expressed excitement about the manufacturing sector and the potential for growth if Trump’s tax cut plan is passed. She noted that manufacturing loans are up 74% and that the Made in America engine is attracting trillions of dollars in investments. Loeffler emphasized the importance of permanent tax cuts for small businesses and the potential for increased investment once the tax bill passes.
