Louisiana inmates face new charges after Orleans Justice Center jail escape

Louisiana law enforcement officials have released new booking pictures of four captured inmates who escaped from a jail in New Orleans. The inmates, Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Gary Price, and Dkenan Dennis, are facing new charges as a result of their escape. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety released the new booking pictures, while six other inmates who escaped remain at large.
Gary Price, who was arrested on Monday, is now facing new charges of simple escape, possession of a controlled substance, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Price was initially arrested for attempted first-degree murder, domestic abuse, and aggravated assault. Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, and Dkenan Dennis were also charged with simple escape by the Louisiana State Police.
In a shocking turn of events, Sterling Williams, an employee of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of principal to simple escape and malfeasance in office. Williams allegedly helped the inmates escape by shutting off water to their cell and assisting them in their breakout. According to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, Williams claimed that the inmates threatened him with violence if he did not aid in their escape.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson took full accountability for the jailbreak, stating that the breach occurred under her leadership and on her watch. She emphasized the importance of addressing the situation with urgency and transparency.
Among the fugitives still at large are Corey E. Boyd, Lenton J. Vanburen Jr., Jermaine Donald, Antoine Massey, Derrick Groves, and Leo O. Tate Sr. These individuals are facing a range of charges, including murder, illegal possession of weapons, and drug offenses.
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the escape and is urging anyone with information to come forward. The public is encouraged to assist in bringing the remaining fugitives to justice. The escape of these inmates has raised concerns about the security measures in place at the Orleans Justice Center.
As the search for the remaining escapees continues, law enforcement officials are working tirelessly to ensure that all individuals involved in the escape are held accountable. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
