Lower Sackville man killed by transport truck on Cumberland County highway

SPRINGHILL JUNCTION, N.S. — A 53-year-old Lower Sackville man is dead after being hit by a transport truck on the side of a Cumberland County highway on Monday.

RCMP said the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. when the man parked the Chevrolet Silverado he was driving on the side of Highway 104 in Springhill Junction and got out to adjust a load he was transporting.

Police said a passing tractor-trailer struck him.

A young person accompanying him in the Silverado was unharmed. The driver of the tractor-trailer also was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
