Loyalty matters: Trump picks allies and supporters to fill out his administration

President-elect Trump is wasting no time in assembling his second administration, and this time around, he is focusing on loyalists, allies, and supporters of his MAGA movement and America First agenda. Unlike his first term, he is not looking for establishment types or those who he deemed disloyal. Instead, he is turning to known commodities in Washington, D.C.

One of Trump’s picks is Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, who he has chosen as his ambassador to the United Nations. Trump praised her as a “strong and very smart America First fighter” and highlighted her early endorsement of him. Another ally, former Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York, is expected to be named as the Environmental Protection Agency administrator.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a vocal Trump supporter, is slated to become the Homeland Security secretary. She will work closely with Stephen Miller, the incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, and Thomas Homan, the incoming “border czar” who was a key figure in the first administration’s immigration policies.

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is expected to be named as the secretary of state. Despite their past rivalry, Rubio has become a strong ally of Trump in the Senate. Additionally, Rep. Michael Waltz of Florida, a former Army Green Beret, will serve as Trump’s national security adviser.

Trump’s selections reflect a shift towards a more cohesive and MAGA-focused team. Dan Eberhart, a prominent Republican donor, noted that Trump’s mandate is stronger this time around, and he is better equipped to navigate Washington and achieve his goals.

Notably, Trump has decided not to include former Gov. Nikki Haley and former Rep. Mike Pompeo in his cabinet. Both politicians ran against Trump in the Republican primaries this year but eventually endorsed him. Trump is surrounding himself with individuals who are committed to his agenda and are dedicated to advancing his policies.
