Mac DeMarco, Pup and more featured on benefit album for wildfire relief

Bandcamp is gearing up to launch a special fundraiser on February 7th to show support for musicians affected by the devastating Southern California wildfires. On this day, all proceeds generated on the Bandcamp platform will be directed towards MusiCares, a non-profit organization founded by Grammy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. that offers health and welfare assistance to musicians in need.
A number of Canadian artists are indirectly involved in this initiative through the release of a compilation album titled “Good Music To Lift Up Los Angeles,” exclusively available on Bandcamp. Among the artists contributing to this album are Mac DeMarco, Pup, and the New Pornographers. The compilation will feature a variety of content including covers, remixes, previously unreleased tracks, and more. Pup even shared that a demo of theirs called “Boring!” will be included on the album.
Proceeds generated from the sales of “Good Music To Lift Up Los Angeles” will be split between the L.A. Food Bank and the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund. Additionally, Bandcamp will be donating their share of the proceeds to MusiCares.
According to Good Music co-founder Jordan Kurland, the compilation came together in a short amount of time, with over 90 musicians contributing to the cause. Artists such as R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie, Madi Diaz, and MJ Lenderman are set to appear on the album.
Music has always been a powerful force for healing, and Kurland hopes that this collection of songs not only raises necessary funds for recovery efforts but also provides comfort and solace to those impacted by the wildfires.
As the music community comes together to support those in need, it’s clear that the spirit of generosity and solidarity is alive and well. This fundraiser serves as a reminder of the importance of helping our fellow artists in times of crisis.
