A top advisor to Zohran Mamdani’s New York City mayoral campaign reportedly played a key role in launching the re-election campaign of Greg Casar, the chief progressive in the House of Representatives.

Morris Katz, a left-wing political strategist working with the Mamdani campaign, was instrumental in creating a new ad for Casar, who is also a member of the “Squad,” announcing his bid for the 2026 midterm elections, according to Politico Playbook.

Katz, known for his work with Democratic campaigns, has previously helped strengthen the New York Working Families Party and advised various candidates, including a Democrat in Maine challenging Sen. Susan Collins, and Dan Osborn’s independent Senate campaign in Nebraska.

The Fight Agency, where Katz operates, has produced videos for prominent progressive figures like Sens. John Fetterman and Bernie Sanders.

From Mamdani to Casar: A Progressive Pivot

While Katz has been involved in numerous campaigns, it was his work with Mamdani that brought him national recognition.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Katz expressed admiration for Mamdani’s progressive ideals, which led him to support the young democratic socialist.

Now, Katz is turning his attention to Casar, aiding the Texas congressman in his bid for a third term representing Austin.

Despite multiple attempts to confirm and gather additional comments from the Fight Agency and Casar’s campaign, Fox News Digital did not receive a response.

Casar’s campaign ad highlights his background as a labor organizer and state legislator before entering Congress in 2023.

The ad emphasizes his commitment to fighting for workers’ rights and challenging powerful interests, featuring images of progressive leaders like Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The Fight Agency’s portfolio includes a previous ad promoting Casar’s initial House campaign in 2022.

Political Maneuvers and Redistricting Battles

Casar’s re-election announcement coincides with Texas’ passage of new congressional maps, a move supported by the White House that could benefit Republicans with up to five additional House seats.

This redistricting effort has sparked conflicts within the Democratic Party, with Rep. Lloyd Doggett opting not to run for re-election if the new district lines are implemented, avoiding a primary challenge from Casar.

In response, Casar expressed gratitude for Doggett’s service and pledged to continue the fight for democracy in his new district, should the redrawn maps stand.

As the political landscape evolves, Katz’s involvement in progressive campaigns like Mamdani’s and Casar’s underscores the growing influence of left-wing operatives in shaping the future of the Democratic Party.
