Two men have been charged with drunk driving causing death after a tragic incident in Annapolis County where two ATVs collided, resulting in the death of a passenger who was ejected and then had one of the ATVs roll on top of him.

According to a news release from the RCMP, the authorities were alerted to the incident on Heartland Road in West Dalhousie, N.S., around 4:40 p.m. AT on Saturday.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found two ATVs in a ditch with several people gathered around them.

The victim, a 72-year-old West Dalhousie man, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Details of the Drivers

The driver of the first ATV is a 53-year-old man from Carleton Corner, N.S. He sustained minor injuries in the collision and has been taken into custody pending a court appearance scheduled for Monday.

The driver of the second ATV, a 49-year-old West Dalhousie man, was arrested at a nearby residence shortly after the incident. He has since been released and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

It was noted by the police that there was a third ATV present at the scene, but it was determined not to have been involved in the collision.
