Man arrested in Lunenburg County homicide

RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man whose remains were found in a wooded area of Lunenburg County last month.

On Thursday morning, police laid a charge of second-degree murder against 40-year-old Arthur Abdul Mosher of Blockhouse and were granted an arrest warrant after attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Chris Marshall said he doesn’t know when Mosher was identified as a suspect, but that police have to show that reasonable efforts have been taken to locate a person before an arrest warrant can be issued.

On Thursday afternoon, officers received a tip and arrested Mosher at a home in Gold River, Lunenburg County.

The arrest happened without incident, Marshall said.

The homicide is alleged to have happened in Blockhouse, but the victim was located more than 30 km away in a wooded area of a property in Parkdale, more than 30 km north of Blockhouse. The remains were found by the property owner.

Marshall said the homicide is not believed to be a random incident, but he didn’t know what if any connection there may be between the two men.

Court documents show the victim was alleged to have been killed in Blockhouse.

Mosher was remanded in custody after his arrest and is due to appear in Bridgewater provincial court Friday.

Court records show that in January of this year he was charged with three weapons offences.
