Man arrested in strangulation death of NYC woman

A man has been arrested for allegedly strangling a woman outside a Times Square hotel in New York City last week and dumping her body. Jaheem Warren, 33, is accused of targeting Leslie Torres, 23, at random as she walked through Midtown Manhattan on Oct. 29, according to the New York Police Department.
Torres was found unconscious in front of the Riu Plaza New York Times Square Hotel by hotel staff. She was taken to Mount Siai West hospital and was on life support until she tragically passed away on Nov. 4.
Warren was apprehended in Prospect Park, New Jersey, by the United States Marshal Service and has been charged with two counts of murder. Additionally, he faces charges of first-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, and second-degree strangulation.
It has been reported that Warren has a lengthy criminal history in New Jersey. He served over four years in prison for a 2019 conviction involving drug dealing and money laundering. After being released in June 2023, he was back in jail by November of the same year on another drug dealing charge. Warren was released again on March 6.
