Man arrested in triple stabbing on Calgary Stampede midway

Police have arrested and charged a city man in connection with a multiple stabbing incident that occurred on the Calgary Stampede midway last month.

The incident took place on July 8, when officers responded to a report of a man in distress near the Euroslide at Stampede Park. Subsequently, two more victims were found at different locations in the area. All three victims were confirmed to be part of the same stabbing incident near the Euroslide, with two of them being hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

After reviewing video surveillance footage and conducting witness interviews, the police were able to identify a suspect. A search of a residence in Calgary led to the seizure of a folding knife and clothing that were consistent with what the suspect was wearing and using during the incident.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Irfan Mohammadi, has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 2. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Calgary Police Service or provide tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
