Man charged with murder in missing woman’s homicide

Police Search Ottawa Landfill for Missing Woman, Charge Man with Murder

The Ottawa Police Service is currently conducting a search at an Ottawa landfill for the body of a missing woman. They have also charged a 35-year-old man with second-degree murder in relation to her death, according to official reports.

Rachelle Desrochers, a 54-year-old woman from Ottawa, was last seen on March 14 on Elgin Street. Police announced on Sunday that they have reason to believe she was killed and that her body may be located in the local landfill.

Despite ongoing search efforts, authorities have not yet discovered her remains.

The suspect, identified as Joshua Blair from Ottawa, has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body. He appeared in court on Sunday morning, as confirmed by the police.
