Man faces charges after woman struck by vehicle in Cape Breton

A 41-year-old man from Cape Breton is facing charges after a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Portage, Nova Scotia. The incident occurred on Tuesday, leaving a 30-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the RCMP responded to a call about the collision at around 7:45 a.m. on May 6. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the woman lying in a ditch, in critical condition. She was quickly transported to the hospital for treatment.
The vehicle involved in the incident was identified as a grey Dodge 3500 truck, which failed to remain at the scene after hitting the pedestrian. However, the driver later turned himself in and was arrested in Big Pond, Nova Scotia.
The 41-year-old man is now facing charges of aggravated assault and failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on August 7 to address these charges.
