Man in India regains consciousness before his cremation on funeral pyre: reports
A shocking incident unfolded in India this week when a 25-year-old man, Rohitash Kumar, who was declared dead and about to be cremated, was found to be still alive by witnesses. The deaf and mute man was pronounced dead at a hospital in the state of Rajasthan without a post-mortem examination, as reported by The Times of India.
Kumar’s family was in for a rude awakening when they discovered that he was still breathing at his own cremation on Thursday afternoon. They rushed him back to the hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away early Friday morning.
The doctors who declared Kumar dead at the Bhagwan Das Khetan district hospital have faced repercussions for their grave mistake. Three of them have been suspended following the incident. Kumar had suffered an epileptic seizure and was pronounced dead after flatlining while doctors were attempting to resuscitate him, according to the Daily Mail.
Witnesses at the funeral pyre described the situation as nothing short of a miracle. One witness told local news outlet ETV Bharat, “We all were in shock. He was declared dead, but there he was, breathing and alive.” Ramavtar Meena, a government official in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, labeled the incident as “serious negligence.”
Meena assured that action would be taken against those responsible for the oversight. He also mentioned that a committee had been formed to thoroughly investigate the working style of the doctors involved in the case.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough medical examinations and the grave consequences of medical negligence. It is a tragedy that a young life was lost due to a preventable error, and it underscores the need for accountability and transparency in the healthcare system.
As the investigation into this shocking incident continues, it is essential to ensure that such lapses in judgment are not repeated in the future. The family of Rohitash Kumar deserves justice, and steps must be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
