Man seriously injured in downtown Dartmouth stabbing

Police took a suspect into custody after a stabbing in downtown Dartmouth on Monday.

A Halifax Regional Police news release said officers responded at about 1:15 p.m. to an altercation between two individuals in the 200 block of Portland Street.

Officers discovered a man had been stabbed. He was transported to hospital with what were believed to be life-threatening injuries.
 
Portland Street was closed to vehicles and pedestrians between Maitland and Albert streets while police conducted their investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or video from the area to call them at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip to Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
