Canada secured a spot in the semifinals of the FIBA men’s AmeriCup with an impressive 94-56 victory over Colombia in Managua, Nicaragua. Leonard Miller set the tone early with 12 points in the first quarter, helping Canada establish a commanding 28-15 lead.
Kyshawn George delivered a standout performance with a team-high 18 points on efficient 6-for-8 shooting, in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Miller contributed 14 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Key contributions from Kyle Wiltjer and Charles Bediako off the bench proved crucial, as they combined for 20 points and 13 rebounds, fueling Canada’s substantial 51-14 edge in bench scoring. Trae Bell-Haynes led all players with six assists.
Coach Mitchell Praises Team’s Discipline
Head coach Nathaniel Mitchell commended his team’s discipline and ball movement following the dominant win. “I’m really proud of our guys for their attention to detail,” Mitchell stated. “We stayed professional, played the right way, and moved the ball. To have 25 assists on 33 made field goals shows how connected we were.”

Canada is now set to face Argentina in the semifinals on Saturday at 8:10 p.m. ET. Mitchell acknowledged the challenge posed by Argentina, describing them as a well-coached and disciplined team with strong guards and physical bigs. “Our job will be to disrupt their flow and be prepared for the test. We have the utmost respect for them and eagerly anticipate the matchup,” Mitchell added.
