Manitoba man killed in tent by tree felled during storm: RCMP

MANIGOTAGAN, man. – Manitoba RCMP is investigating the death of a man apparently killed in a tent by a falling tree.

Police responded to a call Monday about a sudden death at a campground in Manigotagan near Lake Winnipeg.

Officers were told that during a thunderstorm with high winds, a large tree fell on a tent where a man and a woman had been sleeping.

Several nearby campers heard the woman calling for help and rushed to her aid.

The fallen tree had to be cut down to free the two.

The 60-year-old man from Winnipeg was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP says the woman was not physically injured.
