Pacquiao, who hails from the Philippines, had a remarkable career that spanned from 1995 to 2021, amassing a record of 62-8-2 with 39 knockouts. His journey from a 106-pound fighter to winning a title at 154 pounds is a testament to his skill and determination.
Throughout his career, Pacquiao faced off against some of the biggest names in boxing, including Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and Oscar De La Hoya. His speed and power punches made him a formidable opponent, earning him accolades such as “Fighter of the Year” and “Boxer of the Decade.”
Pacquiao’s trainer and friend, Freddie Roach, spoke highly of the boxing icon, saying, “Today’s announcement that Manny will be a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame’s class of 2025 makes me incredibly proud.”
In addition to Pacquiao, Vinny Paz and Michael Nunn were also elected from the men’s modern category. Paz, who overcame a broken neck sustained in a car crash, went on to have a successful career, while Nunn won titles at middleweight and super middleweight.
The rest of the class includes former women’s champions Yessica Chavez, Anne Sophie Mathis, and Mary Jo Sanders, as well as referees Kenny Bayless and Harry Gibbs, and cut man Al Gavin. Broadcaster Randy Gordon and HBO producer Ross Greenburg were elected from the Observer category, along with Cathy “Cat” Davis, Rodrigo Valdez, and Owen Swift.
