Marco Rubio condemns Iran’s threats against IAEA Director Rafael Mariano Grossi

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has strongly condemned the alleged calls for the arrest and execution of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi in Iran. Rubio stated that such actions are “unacceptable and should be condemned,” following reports that Iranian parliament vice speaker Hamid Reza Haji Babaei banned Grossi and removed surveillance from nuclear facilities, accusing Israel of obtaining sensitive data.

Rubio emphasized the importance of supporting the IAEA’s verification and monitoring efforts in Iran, praising Grossi and the IAEA for their dedication and professionalism. He called on Iran to prioritize the safety and security of IAEA personnel.

The IAEA recently commented on the damage at Iranian nuclear facilities after U.S. airstrikes targeted key sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Grossi revealed on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that Isfahan and Natanz had sustained significant damage, particularly in a centrifuge hall at Natanz where enrichment activities took place.

Despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, Grossi expressed concerns about the whereabouts of 900 pounds of potentially enriched uranium, suggesting it may have been moved to an undisclosed location near Isfahan. He stressed the need for precise information and transparency from Iranian officials regarding the material.

President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran prompted threats from Iran to restrict access to its facilities and remove surveillance cameras. Grossi reiterated the importance of Iran complying with its obligations to report and account for all nuclear materials.

Rubio’s response to these developments was not immediately available, and Fox News Digital’s Greg Wehner contributed to the report. Alexandra Koch, a breaking news writer for Fox News Digital, provided additional insights into the evolving situation.
