Marilyn Manson drops lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood

LOS ANGELES – Marilyn Manson Drops Lawsuit Against Evan Rachel Wood, Agrees to Pay Attorney Fees

Rocker Marilyn Manson has reached a settlement to drop a lawsuit against his former fiancee, Evan Rachel Wood, and has agreed to pay her attorneys’ fees, as announced by lawyers representing both parties on Tuesday.

The legal dispute began 18 months ago when Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, filed a lawsuit accusing Wood of fabricating public allegations of sexual and physical abuse during their relationship. He also claimed that Wood encouraged other women to make similar false accusations against him.

Manson’s attorney, Howard King, stated, “After four years of battling to tell the truth, Brian is pleased to dismiss his remaining claims and appeal to bring closure to this chapter of his life.”

Despite initially appealing the judge’s decision, Manson’s legal team initiated discussions with Wood’s representatives earlier this year to seek a resolution. Wood’s attorney, Michael J. Kump, revealed that the terms of the settlement were not kept confidential at Wood’s request.

Kump also criticized Manson’s lawsuit as a “publicity stunt” aimed at discrediting his accusers and reviving his career. He emphasized that Manson’s efforts to silence and intimidate Wood had failed.

As part of the settlement, Manson has agreed to pay nearly $327,000 in attorney fees for Wood.

The resolution comes amidst a four-year criminal investigation involving Manson and multiple women, led by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. The investigation remains ongoing, with new evidence recently discovered by the sex crimes division.

While the women involved in the criminal case have not been publicly identified, actor Esme Bianco came forward as one of the accusers. She settled her own lawsuit against Manson last year and criticized the delay in the investigation.

Manson has consistently denied engaging in any non-consensual sexual acts and maintains his innocence.

The legal dispute between Manson and Wood dates back to 2020 when Wood publicly accused Manson of years of abuse. The couple, who were briefly engaged in 2010, ended their relationship after several years together.

Manson’s original lawsuit alleged defamation and emotional distress caused by Wood and another woman, Ashley Gore. The lawsuit also included claims of hacking, forgery, and harassment orchestrated by Gore. However, parts of the suit were dismissed by the court, including allegations related to a disputed FBI letter and the use of a checklist to fabricate abuse claims.

The agreement to drop the lawsuit was also reached with Ashley Gore, who was accused of collaborating with Wood to undermine Manson. Details of Gore’s settlement were not disclosed.
