Max Homa carries own bag for 38 holes, misses U.S. Open qualifier in playoff
Max Homa faced an uphill battle to secure a spot in the upcoming 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont, with the fate of his Oakmont journey hinging on a qualifier in Ohio. The Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club hosted six qualifying spots, where golfers had to endure two rounds of intense competition on Monday. Homa found himself in a five-man playoff, including Fowler, Young, Eric Cole, and Chase Johnson, after a three-putt on his 36th hole. Ultimately, Young clinched the final spot with a birdie on hole 38.
Despite the challenging day, Homa faced another hurdle as his caddie of two months, Bill Harke, was no longer by his side due to undisclosed reasons. This left Homa to carry his own bag for all 38 holes of the qualifier.
